Keith Steele Caps Off
Championship Season with Two Runner-Up Finishes
Madison,WI (September 11, 2009) -
After clinching the TORC SRT Limited 2 Championship in Bark
River, Keith Steele and his Monster Energy Kumho Tire Chevy
came to Crandon not only to race, but to enjoy all the
festivities associated with the 40th anniversary celebration.
There were two rounds left in the SRT season, and Keith and
his team were going to give racing their full attention, but
it was a different feeling around the Steele Off-Road pit
area. No matter how the truck finished, Keith Steele and his
#29 Monster Energy Kumho Chevy were the first Champions
crowned for the 2009 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL.
The team chose not to compete in the PRO-2WD division,
ensuring the truck would be driven back into the trailer for
the trip back to Madison.
Friday Night - Round 9
Just like last year, the Friday night race under the lights
was held on Crandon’s Short-Short track. The starting grid was
set up in Potawatomi Turn One as the Limited 2 trucks lined up
two by two, five rows deep.
Early on, Round 9 was a three truck race between Steele,
Johnson, and Baudoux. Eventually Johnson fell off the pace and
then it was the between the two other champion drivers. Keith
could catch Dan but couldn’t complete the pass. The finish had
Baudoux first, and Keith Steele second.
Saturday Afternoon - Round 10
The final round of the season had the Limited 2 trucks
competed on the traditional “Big House” track, complete with
the land rush start. Once again it was a two truck race. Dan
Baudoux grabbed the lead, and Keith did his best to get around
the Red Ford. Once again Keith finished the race in second
place. That’s ten races, eight wins, and two runner-up
finishes.
“This season was absolutely incredible,” remarked Keith
Steele. “Without my brother JJ, none of this would be
possible. Along with the support of our family and friends
they made this season just awesome. This Wolverine engine is
just incredible. There’s ten Sportsman rounds and ten PRO
rounds of racing on this motor, and its never missed a beat.
Roger Harrison and his J & H Transmissions are the best on the
planet. Thanks goes to Kumho Tires who came on board when we
showed up to Texas. Of course, Monster Energy really helped
get our team to the track. There are so many people to thank,
this TORC Limited 2 Championship was truly a team effort.”
Keith Steele would like to thank all its product supporters,
including:
Monster Energy, J & H Transmission, Yank Torque Converters, K
& N Filters, Howe Performance, Wolverine Performance, and
Phil’s Inc.
Keith Steele and his Steele Off-Road Race Team still have
marketing opportunities available for the 2010 Race season.
